Surface area and Volume | Class 8 | Practice Set 16.1

Surface area and Volume Class 8 Practice Set 16.1, Volume of cuboid and the volume of cube is found out in the attached pdf file.

Practice-set-16.1

In all the examples of this practice set we are asked to find out the volume of the cube and the volume of the cuboid.

The volume of the cube is found out by using the formula (length)^3.

The volume of the cuboid is calculated by using the formula, length * breadth * height.

For solving these types of examples we should make sure that all the dimensions are having the same unit. If units are not same then we should make them same.

Some important conversions are given below –

1 m = 100 cm, 1 mm =0.1 cm, 1 litre = 1000 cubic centimetres.

If we know the formula and if we can do simple mathematical calculations then we can solve examples of this practice set very easily.

The examples answered in this pdf file are given below –

  1. Find the volume of a box if its length, breadth and height are 20 cm, 10.5 cm and 8 cm respectively.
  2. A cuboid shape soap bar has volume 150 cc. Find its thickness if its length is 10 cm and breadth is 5 cm.
  3. How many bricks of length 25 cm, breadth 15 cm and height 10 cm are required
    to build a wall of length 6 m, height 2.5 m and breadth 0.5 m ?
  4. For rain water harvesting a tank of length 10 m, breadth 6 m and depth 3m is built. What is the capacity of the tank ? How many litre of water can it hold ?
